HISTORY:

The govt. chengalpattu hospital along with chengalpattu medical college came into existence in the year 1965 with the prime aim of catering medical facilities to the needy at large, encompassing the four districts around.

The department of Radiology was born in the year 1968 with Prof. dr. M. Vasanthakumar shetty, MBBS, DMRD, at the helm of affairs with few radiographic assistants, with minimal infrastructural facilities like single 100mA Xray unit and single 50mA mobile Xray unit.

Subsequently over the years, the dept. of Radiology, with bigger strides, showed a phenomenal growth, both in the no. of qualified faculty members as well in acquiring the modern gadgets, in response to the needs of present day, imparting yeoman services to the public in and around chengalpattu.

Faculty Details

supporting staffs include one chief Xray technician, 5 qualified radiographers, 4 dark room assistants, and 2 attenders.

ACTIVITIES:

As teachers, we impart regular teaching programs , CMEs, to both undergraduates and postgraduate students of our pristine institution, as well conducting classes for incumbent CRA and DRA students, with chalkedout programs. We wished a place on record that our institution has been chosen and permitted by The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University to conduct B.Sc,( Radiographic and Imaging Technology ) course which spans over 4 years, which we construe, a feather in our cap.

We have applied for MD. Radiodiagnosis course for which things are looking positive to accord the same in academic years 2014-15.

SERVICES PROVIDED:

It is no exaggeration, if the department of radiology in our hospital is considered as the cynosure among the others and is because of the fact that all departments converge towards radiology centripetally whose needs are catered and fulfilled with dedicated and best efforts in centrifugal fashion.

Both out and inpatients are taken care of with round the clock emergency services pertaining to Radiology as needed

With concordance to the famous adage “Duty is god: Work is worship ” the staff members performed the duty with the best of their abilities, rendering the services to the poor and the needy. Our commitment to endure our services to the mankind will be eternal and we will work in unity to keep the flag flying high of our prestigious institution, the Chengalpattu Medical College and Hospital.
