Anti Ragging week celebration 2025 report

Anti Ragging week celebration 2025

Ragging is a serious concern in higher educational institutions, causing immense physical and psychological harm to students. To address this issue, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has framed strict regulations for curbing ragging and mandated their implementation across all institutions. In continuation of these efforts, UGC has declared August 12th as Anti-Ragging Day and August 12th to 18th as Anti-Ragging Week every year, with the aim of spreading awareness and ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for students.

In line with the advisory issued by the National Medical Commission, Chengalpattu Medical College observed Anti-Ragging Awareness Week from 12.08.2025 to 18.08.2025. The celebrations commenced with an Anti-Ragging Rally on 12.08.2025 at 9:30 AM, which witnessed active participation from MBBS, Nursing, and Para-Medical students. The rally carried strong messages against ragging and emphasized the importance of friendship, mutual respect, and kindness among peers.

As part of the week-long program, various competitions were organized to encourage student creativity and involvement in the campaign. These included poster painting, slogan writing, poetry writing in English and Tamil, and short video clippings. The suggested themes for the competitions—such as Dissection of ego, Anatomy of respect, From Hazing to Healing, Be a Doctor, not a Dictator, and Ragging not an ice-breaker but a life breaker—inspired participants to creatively convey the harmful impact of ragging and the need for compassion and unity in the medical profession all aimed at reinforcing the message of zero tolerance towards ragging.

The Anti-Ragging Awareness Week 2025 was a success, drawing enthusiastic participation and spreading the message that ragging is not an acceptable initiation ritual but a punishable offence and a violation of human dignity. Such initiatives are vital to educate the students regarding the impact of Ragging ,protect students, prevent harassment, and promote a healthy and harmonious learning environment. By encouraging respect, empathy, and positive bonding, the campaign strengthened the collective commitment of Chengalpattu Medical College to uphold a ragging-free campus and ensure the well-being of every student.
